Katie Bennison
TEACHING ASSISTANT & 1:1 SUPPORT
With a decade-long career in marketing and advertising, I thrived on using behavioural research to uncover people’s interests, passions, and unmet needs. While I found this work fascinating, I yearned to make a more profound impact on people's lives, which led me to pursue a career in teaching.
I completed my PGCE at Goldsmiths in 2018, followed by my NQT year at a wonderful school in Tower Hamlets, where I had the opportunity to work with a diverse student body. I found the traditional classroom environment and teaching methods quite restrictive, and I look forward to exploring alternative methods that allow for more creativity and flexibility.
My interest in nature and my degree in Biological Sciences have always been central to my personal and professional life. Having children of my own has deepened my understanding of the importance of play-based learning and focusing on each child’s unique interests. Over the past couple of years, I have been helping to run forest school clubs and have enjoyed embracing the forest school principles, witnessing firsthand how nature can profoundly enrich children's experiences.
Joining Wildwood Nature School is a dream come true, as it allows me to merge my enthusiasm for the natural world with my commitment to education. I am thrilled to be part of a forest school where I can inspire children to explore and appreciate nature, fostering a love for learning in an environment that aligns with my values and passions.
